Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
