Washington Head Coach Takes Blame for Leaving Daniels in Contest Prior to Serious Harm

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has admitted he shares a portion of the blame for a major injury to the squad’s signal-caller, Daniels.

Particulars of the Harm and Context

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest rookie campaigns in history the previous year, suffered a dislocated elbow joint in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though Daniels throws with his right arm, the injury has placed his campaign uncertain. The injury was serious enough that the television broadcast avoided showing repeats and several athletes turned away as he was treated by team doctors.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Coach Quinn came under criticism as many felt Daniels should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident happened in the final period with the Commanders behind 38-7, making a recovery unlikely. It is typical in these circumstances for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent injuries to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been reflecting about it constantly, too, and, man, I missed it,” he remarked of his decision to keep Daniels in the game. “This is 100% on me.”

Fallout and Squad Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback from now on, but he will guide a roster in disarray. After reaching the NFC championship game the prior year behind the rookie’s excellence, the franchise have struggled currently. They also saw injuries to defensive back Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other key players on injured reserve. The Commanders are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would take a massive turnaround for the club to make the postseason.
